Troy Andrews, also known as Trombone Shorty, is an American musician, producer, actor and philanthropist from New Orleans, Louisiana. He is best known as a trombone and trumpeter, and also plays drums, organ and tuba. He's worked with some of the biggest names in rock, pop, jazz, funk and hip hop music. Andrews is the brother of trumpeter and conductor James Andrews and the grandson of singer-songwriter Jessie Hill. Other members of the musical family are cousins Glen David Andrews and the late Travis "Trumpet Black" Hill. Andrews started playing trombone at the age of 4 and since 2009 has been touring with his own band, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue.
